Baby Sofia Rose Toombs

In celebration of the birth of the Toombs new daughter, Sophia Rose, we took a series of film clips from the workers here at the Phare. It's a mix of English, French and Wolof. There are jokes ("we expect a big party with a sheep") and a song and funny faces. Enjoy!

First, we have Mbaye:

Then Yvette:

Next is Patrice:

After a pause to get more camera batteries (!), a word from Ndiaga:

Now, Rosette gets pumped about Sofia's middle name:

Last, the great hurray!

A Look Off Site - Jane Hampton at Work

OK. I'll take some shots of the Phare later this week. Everything is still very green. We had some rain last week, way past the normal date that the rains cease. It's great for our plants here, but not so good for farmers trying to get their peanuts harvested.

Speaking of peanuts, have you seen Aaron's website? You, too, could be a peanut expert! But don't look for baby news. No posts there yet! Or email! And inquiring minds want to know, Sara!

So, I got a call late morning from my wife. A long florescent lamp had detached from the courtyard wall and was dangling down right in their work zone. Who could fix it? Should she just yank it out of the wall?

Yes, that last question was the motivation I needed to reluctantly catch a taxi over to Ouakam, to the church, carrying a few tools and a camera. Since I was there, I thought you'd like to see Jane at work with the talibé boys.
