This years IBG

58 students from various areas of Senegal came to the Phare for two weeks to attend Bible classes provided by The Bible Institute of Geneva. The goal of IBG is to train leaders, pastors, and believers in: 
biblical studies,
theology, evangelism in partnership with The Biblical 
Institute of Geneva Switzerland.These courses provide the same quality of theological training at the same level of the Bible Institute in Geneva.The system is set up to wash through a five year rotating cycle of study.
Two weeks each fall, two teachers from Switzerland and two teachers from Senegal gather with 60 students at the BOH.
The core curriculum covered in the five year cycle is equivalent to the first year of studies given at the IBG in Switzerland.
This year five students graduated. It was pretty exciting.
I slipped into the back of the classroom and got some footage of praise time during graduation. It was much cooler to actually be in the midst of all of it, but here's a clip:

desperate times calls for goats

Ok, so we're not desperate, but we are looking for ways to save a few pennies. The latest and greatest addition to the Phare are "Fetta" and "Brochette". Their job description: eat grass, take a break for a light weed snack, and then hit the ground chewing until the property is trim and tidy. We haven't decided on their fate after the rainy season ends and there is no more grass. The kids and I vote on reproduction and cheese, but the male population seems to be leaning toward a goat roast with all the fixin's.
