This is basically what she said. Not word for word. But the gist.
Me: Hi Slyvie. What's going on here?
Slyvie: Hello everyone. We're here for leadership training. As the Bible say's the fields are ready for harvesting, but there are few workers. There is different training for everyone's ministries; the women, the men, the youth. We all receive something for the different ministries we're involved in.
Me: And who...
Slyie: Organized it? Its a group I haven't heard of up till now. They are called "Global Advance". Their goal is to train the trainers who can then turn around and train others.
Slyvie: The participants have come from many different churches of Dakar. Me, I'm form Eglise Evangelique. There are also those who came from different regions of Senegal. There are some from Ziganchor, from Kolda, Thies, and Rufisque.
Slyvie: I'm a Sunday School Teacher for little kids. What I've learned is that in order to teach the young, you have to become like them. You can't be a big person who is looking down on them, but you have to become like a child to understand them so that you can better train them. You have to use your hands, your arms, your gestures to better communicate to them the message of Jesus. And also recognize that Jesus wants to save kids. He didn't come just to save the grown ups, but he came to save them as well. I really appreciated that. I love my work with the kids. Its a blessing. I'm very happy!!
